The Remember the Times Community Activation Series is a three-day public program that uses Black television as a lens to explore culture, identity, and community through conversation, shared media experiences, and participatory celebration.

This activation is a lecture and guided viewing experience led by Dr. Alfred Martin, centered on the cultural and historical impact of A Different World. Participants will watch a curated episode together and engage in facilitated dialogue examining how the series shaped representations of Black college life, identity, and community.

The program is designed to deepen audience understanding of Black television as a cultural force, while creating space for intergenerational reflection and conversation. By pairing scholarship with shared viewing, this activation encourages critical engagement with media and highlights the continued relevance of these narratives in today’s social and cultural landscape.

This activation is an interactive, curated media experience that brings audiences together to revisit iconic scenes from Black television spanning the 1970s through the early 2000s. Hosted by media personality Stichiz and a panel of community voices, the program combines guided conversation, storytelling, and audience participation.

Participants will reflect on how these moments influenced cultural identity, humor, family dynamics, and collective memory. The activation is designed to foster connection across generations, encourage dialogue, and celebrate the role of Black television in shaping shared cultural experiences.

Take a journey through the moments that made us laugh, think, and feel seen. Hosted by South Florida media personality Stichiz alongside special guests, this interactive evening blends conversation, nostalgia, and humor as we watch, remember, and reflect together.
